Business Systems Analysts are responsible for identifying the business needs of their clients to help determine solutions to business problems. They typically have a high degree of industry experience and perform the liaison role between the business and the Systems Development team.

Position has the responsibility of development personnel with software problems outside the scope of general software maintenance, while validating reported defects.

There may be travel required to Mexico, Latin America, and other parts of the US.

Summary of Job Functions:

  • Work with the Business Users to identify and document the business need and project's scope of work.
  • Identify and categorize project stakeholders and user classes. Define the user class characteristics and identify the appropriate representatives for each user class.
  • Elicit requirements using various sources and techniques. Example: Interviews, requirements workshops, documented requirements, document analysis, product analysis, workflow analysis, business process descriptions, surveys and onsite visits.
  • Decompose and categorize high level business requirements into functional and non-functional requirements. Specify each requirement into the appropriate level of detail required by the development team.
  • Represent requirements using a combination of both text and alternative views such as analysis models, diagrams, tables, matrices, and scenarios.
  • Effectively decompose and write requirements so all levels of project stakeholders can understand. Ensure each requirements is broken down to a sub process level and categorized by business process. The requirements must be written to clear, concise, consistent, traceable, feasible, verifiable, unambiguous and conforming to standards.
